The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) represents over 127,000 professionals.

There are 106,997 ASHA-certified speech language pathologists. More than 59% of certified speech-language pathologists work in educational facilities, 35% are employed in health care facilities and more than 13% are employed in nonresidential health care facilities including home health, private practice offices and speech and hearing centers.

Also, there are 1,256 persons who hold dual ASHA certification. That is, they are certified as both audiologists and speech-language pathologists. These individuals hold many major positions in clinical, academic, and research fields.
